This LS Swap is off to a rough start. Butter Jeep Episode 2
Переглядів 80 тис.День тому
I'm back to hustling on this engine swap for the 1994 Jeep Wrangler YJ that I call Butter Jeep. This was suppose to be a slam dunk as I have 2 donor engines. One that is really rough and came from a U-pull-it junkyard. The other came from a wrecked 2004 silverado or Tahoe. The second motor was bought off Marketplace and I paid up for it.... See how it all shakes out on this episode of The Dirth...

They are getting extremely hard to find nowadays and when I found a relatively clean version of the truck of my youth I had to buy it.. In true Dirt Head fashion I also had to immediately change the wheels, tires, and slam the suspension.. My wife is right. I do have a problem. keywords., mini truck mini truckin slammed low...

On this episode of the Dirthead Shed it’s time to drag it back in the shop and yank out the old junk motor and I’ll show you how I’m going about a Junkyard LS swap . Dig these little Dodges/Mitsubishis.... shame about that fender, but I think those paintless dent guys could actually get that pulled out pretty well, then just those little rust creases would need to be sealed, but it would actually look fantastic on both sides then 👌 Still holding out hope for a Conquest 4G63T swap along with it's wheels, polished of course 😅🤞🏻

      @@thedirtheadshed it might not be, but I've seen those paintless dent guys do some magic... and unless you're changing up the exterior, it would be a shame to abandon that awesome paint and those decals if the bulk of the damage could be ironed out, you know? Then again, with the technology we have now, it'd probably be cheap and easy to get those decals scanned and remade in any color combo you wanted, just in case you ever thought about switching it up.

    Absolutely digging this Hardbody. Thoughts on a "simple" (stock, just for the sound, turbo noises, and bragging ECT) RB25DET or even an RB20DET swap along with "cheap", yet absolutely nasty(good nasty) SQ audio build within the cabin? With it being the extended cab, and someone already hacking at the back cab (I know you've already started fixing that, and I'm NOT not implying a typical 4th or 6th order blow through), I could message you with some seriously cheap and pretty under-the-radar front stage (and rear fill) audio goodies, and then you could either go with my thought process for the rear, and go with a 24" infinite baffle sub on a manifold that "tapers"(not really, pretty much changing shape but keeping the same overall size) out through the back cabin and under the bed or, under the cabin itself....if the thoughts of an awesome 24" inverted, infinite baffled, rear center mounted sub frightens you lol, you could either go with another somewhat unorthodox setup with a single (or dos) 11" super slim(yet super capable) subs in extremely tiny sealed enclosures, either one blended into the rear wall, custom center console (without ridiculous extra coaxial speakers that make zero sense), or twins, one each under each rear sail window. Don't mind me, just trying to live vicariously through you as I never got around to finding my own extended Hardbody 😅😖🥹

    • @johnnygeorgopoulos4072
      @johnnygeorgopoulos4072 День тому

      @@thedirtheadshed I can dig it, I'm picturing something asymmetrical and abstract... could be dope. I've been into more of SQL for the longest, more loud, but still sounding good.... lately I've decided the next time I build, it'll be straight SQ... it'll still get plenty loud, I'm just done with making everyone else hear me lol. Now to those dual 8's, depending on your own tastes, sound quality while still playing as loud as you want, or on the other hand, trying to get your windshield and all metal surfaces to flex.... here's my suggestions, and I stay away from "played out" brands who charge tons when you can get the same for half or less. SQ, If you're dead set on the twin 8's, I'd highly recommend a set of Dayton Audio Reference Series HO's, in a sealed enclosure on the larger side of spec. If you want a little extra than that, I'd go with their Ultimax series 8's, again, sealed, towards the larger side of recommendations. Those are both 300w RMS subs, don't sound like much, but would be absolutely killer in that space along with that amount of cabin gain, and they'll both play higher than you're probably used to so you can have an easier time getting your front midbass matched up and blended. If you need anything beyond those, I'm going to have to recommend Sundown Audio. Their SA-8's are the most musical, can handle running sealed, have ridiculous excursion, and are 500w RMS (I run a single SA-8v3 D2 in my single cab GMC K1500 on 900w RMS daily, they'll gladly take 50-100% over on clean power in a proper enclosure, mine is in 1cf ported at 34hz, large for a single 8). Then they recently released a U-8.... the U series sounds similar to the SA series, but can handle more power being thrown at it, I have a U-15 on 3k RMS in my Sedan DeVille, daily. Then, until they release their upcoming "crazy 8" lol....they have what's called the X-8.... the X-8 is "rated" at 1k RMS, but will eat 1.5-2k daily, plays stupid low for an 8" (granted, so do the other two, but not like this), and two of them on good power will definitely have people confused on what's going on inside your cab lol. Soon enough though, they'll be releasing their Z8 into their Z lineup, the damn thing is only an 8" cone, has like 4" of surround, and is like 20" tall 😅. I kinda want one just for the hell of it lol. That'll be, technically, still a "daily driver" type sub.... I just heard that they're also in the prototype process of creating an 8" Night Shade.... the NS are their neodymium competition subs, it looks ridiculous, it looks to be well over 20" tall, at least, with a tiny little cone.... I'm sure it'll probably be rated at like 3k watts and take 10k burps easy 🤣

I rinse with low pressure water, soap with mild degreaser, hit stuff with a brush, blow it out with a pressure washer, then hit problem areas with next gnarliest thing until clean.
